Who was responsible for security at the Trump rally?

I grabbed this from the NYT.

Shooting at a Trump Rally in Pennsylvania: Diagrams, Maps and Photos

300 feet, overlooking the stage. Why was there not a law enforcement agent present on that roof?

https://nypost.com/2024/07/13/us-news/thomas-matthew-crooks-idd-as-gunman-who-shot-trump-during-pa-rally/
The gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump Saturday was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, sources told The Post.

Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pa., squeezed off shots — one of which grazed Trump in the ear — at an outdoor rally in Butler, just outside Pittsburgh.

Sources said Crooks was planted on a roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away from the stage at Butler Farm Show grounds.

Apparently the Secret Service detail wasn't large enough to cover the entire area, and concentrated on Trump's immediate surroundings while coordinating with state and local law enforcement to secure the larger area. Which somehow was not done. The locals screwed up, and the Secret Service screwed up on making sure that the locals didn't screw up. I suspect there's going to be plenty of blame to go around.

Thank GOD we didn't start the Second American Civil War on Saturday.

What are the two Secret Service snipers looking at for several minutes?
The guy on the tripod jumps off the gun when shots were fired, I would like to think incompetence but it is getting very difficult.

Surely you understand that every Secret Service agent shares responsibility for the failure that day. I read that the Snipers had seen Crooks for a while prior to shooting him, but delayed killing him until after he shot at Trump.
https://abc13.com/post/trump-assassinat ... /15064141/
According to the sources, the timeline presented in the briefing was as follows:
5:10 p.m. Crooks was first identified as a person of interest
5:30 Crooks was spotted with a rangefinder
5:52 Crooks was spotted on the roof by Secret Service
6:02 Trump takes the stage
6:12 Crooks fires first shots

Are you going to call the snipers that killed Crooks, DEI hires?

Some news sites are reporting that the Secret service denied Trump additional security. A shortage of agents have been a persistent problem for a long time.

July 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. Secret Service said it had turned down requests from Donald Trump's security detail for additional resources in the two years leading up to his attempted assassination last week, the New York Times reported on Saturday, citing a spokesman.
This is a reversal from earlier statements by the agency denying that such requests for the former president and Republican presidential nominee had been rebuffed, the newspaper said.

Secret Service Director Cheatle resigns after mounting pressure in wake of Trump assassination attempt
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/secret ... on-attempt
She added that "I'm not going to get into the specifics of the numbers of personnel that we had there, but we feel that there was a sufficient number of agents assigned" to the event.

Trump’s security detail reportedly asked for additional security from the Secret Service, repeatedly, but those requests were not met.

The Department of Homeland Security's inspector general has opened an investigation into the Secret Service's handling of security for the Trump rally on July 13.

If there were enough agents, then I'm going to guess that they were not properly utilized.
