Severe case of "I WANT..."

Postby Rodentman on Tue Dec 23, 2014 8:59 pm

Struck again with a case of I WANT, which usually leads to a firearm purchase, I bought a Bond Arms Backup in 45acp...

Is it practical? No
Is it a range gun? No
Is it comfortable to shoot? Won't know til 12-26 but I suspect not.
Why did I buy it? I WANT.

It's built really well, and thru 12-31 they offer another barrel for half price. I odored a 327 fed mag 3" figuring that would be a bit softer shooting than the .357/38spl and since I reload all these calibers....

And they make a slightly larger rubber grip for it so I had to odor that too. So I retire a week later, BFD. Well I've said that enough so that I think I'm up to a year extra now.

Fugly. To think someone spent effort designing, and producing it. Wow.

Unlike me, it's a lot nicer looking in person, really.

I don't have anywhere near the collection that you do, but I understand. Congratulations, and Merry Christmas!

You are weak! I've been battling the case of I Want for this past 72 hours and am still winning :)

Congratulations though, looks like a fun addition
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

Severe case of "I WANT..."

Nice! I've always admired those for the same reasons.

Whatever happened to that duracoated .38 derringer that used to float around the forums? I think Shippy had it last?

Well, I delayed the "I wants" on a .500 NE double until someone else brought it, thank god.

Good question. I did the build from pcs and duracourt.

Has to be near 50 years ago a few of us were shooting in a gravel pit and somebody brought out one of those derringers in .357 mag, nobody wanted to shoot it but I finally said ok I'll do it.
We loaded one round of full house .357 and I touched it off at the base of a pile of dirt about 8 feet away, felt like somebody hit my hand with a bat, the bullet hit about 30" above poa. and that little gun spun around in my hand and I was looking at the muzzles.

It looks like a Glock had a foursome with a over-under shotgun, revolver and derringer.

The recoil isn't supposed to be as bad as a J frame due to the physics and the shape of the grip. I'll be testing that theory Friday at BPR. I'll bring the DE 50 because I suspect the range will be busy and I always like to make new friends. Or just friends.

Not on my "I want" list but I completely understand. Right now the "I want" is pulling hard on a new Para Elite .45....even though I already have a few Colts and Rugers. So far, I'm resisting, but..... :lalala:

I ran 50 rounds thru it today. Recoil is just a shove and not a big deal. The grip conforms to the paw well with no sharp edges so it doesn't bite. Still not what I'd call a range gun but not a PIA to shoot. I wonder how it would be with the 10mm barrel. That would be interesting.
