Not meant to get off topic but who actually makes powder here in the US?

I see CFE, Varget, AR Comp, benchmark and most of the IMR's on the shelf.
The Metro area is overshopped; when I get out of town, it is a different deal.
Even Owatonna Cabelas is good for the common stuff. But there, as you know, it is a timing issue. Cabelas wont stock 8# jugs. If anybody wants anything, let me know, and I'll look for you. Scheels is scalping over retail again, they do that, then when they have inventory, the prices fall back to normal.

At least three of the Alliant powders are made in the US, as are a handful of Accurate and Ramshot.

My last run down south was disappointing . All the Hodgdons were in 1# cans. Except for Varget, it was in 8#s. came back with 6 jugs.

Be sure to shake any double base powders on hand at least once a month. Some of the chemicals will settle to the bottom. When you get to that part, it might be a little hotter than you expect.

FF Hudson as of yesterday had HS-6, which is a good pistol powder.

Also, to repeat what I have said before, it's easy to see what the Gunstop has on the shelves, as the listing is updated every day.

I'm doing a long drive starting on Jan 2 where I will go thru alot of the south. Any one have any suggestions on where I might score some pistol powder anywhere from here to Florida. I'll go thru Ark/Missouri on the way down and maybe go thru Tenn/Ill on the way back. Thanks for any tips

Care to provide a link to this list? I must suck at using gunstop.com, because I can't seem to find it.

http://www.gunstop.com/products/powder/alliant-powder shows "no products in this category," and Hodgdon, Accurate, etc are all the same.

Ah, I see. Thanks; you'd think that using the search box on the website with the term "powder" would have found something useful, but all I came up with was the stuff I referred to earlier. Nice that they've got a list; too bad it doesn't include pricing, though I suppose if there's something on the list you're interested in, picking up the phone is easy enough. :)

They are always reasonably priced, no price gauging.
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

Something Odd about powder availability in TC area. When I travel, I always, repeat, ALWAYS see more than I want. True, not every option is out there, but I think "SUBSITUTE". Seen lately - Varget, 4350, CFE, HP38, Titegroup, WST, 700x, 800x, PB, H110, HS6, most of the new IMRs, Ram shot, some VV, 4227.Benchmark, blc2 Etc. ( No bullseye or Unique because of new factory ammo applications). So it's out there when timing is right.
