If you're getting a 35 year old brunette, I'm going younger, 20-25 will work.

A good deal to me is a fair price on bullets, powder, and primers.

Prices have been dropping across the board slowly. Here is what I would use as a guide.
All prices assume non import ammo

— 5.56 M193 55gr FMJ 40 cents or less, about to move this marker to 30 cents
— 5.56 M855 62gr FMJ 60 cents or less

— .308/7.62 150gr FMJ- 60 cents or less
— .308/7.62 165gr BTHP- i assume you meant 168 gr, around $1 a round but this is quote varibale due to options

— 9mm FMJ- less than 30 cents

— .45 ACP 230gr FMJ 40 cents or less, very rare under 40 cents though

I'm WAITING FOR 2008 prices to return. I bought ammo to support my children's and my needs, and then they both go to college and basically quit shooting with Dad, so I've had a surplus which held me over until now. I did sell about 26K of ammo to support other purchases, but now basically am shooting my own reloads with components purchased before 2008.

I want to see pre 2013 pricing on .355, .452, .308 etc bullets. I want better availability of gun powders at those same price levels. That will allow me to lower the price that I have to charge the friends and family I hand load ammo for. None have complained though, since they get it cheaper than they can get at stores, IF they can find what they are looking for. My friends down in Rochester keep coming to me, because they know they are getting top quality ammo, for less, and I don't limit them to an arbitrary quantity like some places do (such as 5 box limit). He calls, tells me how many rounds of each caliber he wants, and comes up the following week, and goes happily home. He now jas me loading for many of his shooting buddies as well, and so far, ALL have called and are extremely happy.

Roll your own, and you never have to wonder when you can find ammo.

Take a look at gunbot.net

As far as 45ACP goes, just found some armscor from CTD for 15 bucks a box of 50, with shipping it was $176 for 500 rounds. I thought that was a good deal. Tons of steel case russian ammo in the low .30's per round, if that's your bag. Can't find 22lr reasonable anywhere online, and when you do find it for .04-.06 per round they have it limited to one box so it becomes pretty unreasonable after shipping.

The 35 year old is a much better deal!

To much teaching involved in those 20-25 year olds....... and the 35 year old, well...... Shes in what they call the "dirty 30's" age range.... usually no rules, and way more fun! lol
