If you really want to learn the ins and outs of the sport, show up at 0730 hrs. and assist with setting up the stages. An amazing amount of information on 3-gunning gets shared during set up. You get to see not only how we do things, but also why we do it that way. It cuts the learning curve a lot.

Firefighter194... This is about as solid advice as you will ever hear and while the "old, fat chief" (not old or fat) is too humble to say it, he and his son are 2 of the best multi-gunners in the state. His other son shoots for the AMU and is one of the best 3-gunners in the country. So if you hear bits of wisdom coming from that way you can bet it's not BS.....at least until you know what you're doing.......then at some point the advice turns south

Nowadays our conversations go more like this......

Me: Hey Payne, How do you think I should shoot this stage?
Payne: Well....I think you should shoot it with empty mags.
Me: Thanks
Payne: No problem......BTW, mind if I take a look at your scope turrets

We will be shooting one stage with rifle targets outs to 300 yard. It is important that you know your rifle zero as we cannot risk any rounds being fired over the berms. You will be asked about your zero during registration. Take the time before the match to get to know your rifle's zero and bullet drop. The match is not the time to be testing or playing around with your zero.

Just a quick reminder as we are about a week out from this match. If you don't know your rifle's zero, take the time to do so before the match.

Well this went south. I was hoping for reassurances that the target wouldn't completely disappear behind my red dot

At 300 your red dot will be on top of the target. Problem solved

Chrono'd my rifle ammo Sunday to confirm I'm zero at 25y, 2.something high at 100, again dead on at 200 and according to the ballistic chart a drop of 10.something at 300y.
It's starting to look like I'm going to be able to shoot my first match this year

I thought a 25 was a 300 zero and a 50 was a 200?
