FLPSA Points Match June 9th

Postby westberg on Tue Jun 04, 2013 10:36 am

This Sunday June 9th we're pleased to be holding our first Points match. I'm still finalizing the stages but expect the following;

8 to 9 stages plus the Section Chrono
150 to 200rds
Match fee $25.00
Setup 8am
Lunch will be provided
Coffee, cookies, pop and water will be provided

If you haven't been to our range before our shooting bays are split in two different area's of the property.
Enter Gate 2 off of 240th St and go to the club house for registration and lunch. There will be signs directing you to the stages in this area.
Gate 1 which is on Elm Crest is the 25yd, 50yd and 100yd and 200yd bays will have up to 4 stages.
Registration starts at 9am, shooters meeting at 10am. Because the range is so spread out its important to be at the clubhouse at 10am for the shooters meeting.

Dawn has volunteered to do the scores during the match. Feel free to stay and socialize after the match.

If you have golf carts or four wheelers your more then welcome to use them, just be mindful not to tear up the ground.

I"ll update the final total of stages and expected rounds as soon as I can.

This is my first match of this size, please bare with me.

Thanks

Ron, I know this is a bit of a long shot but do you have any idea when you would expect shooting to start and end? I have a grad party not far from the range and I am thinking I might be able to get both done.

The shooting would start at the end of the shooters mtg which starts at 10am. I really don't know it depends on how many shooters show up.

May be a dumb question but what is a first points match? Hand gun? shot gun? rifle? 3 gun?

I believe he means the first Points Match of the season.

If I had to guess, I would say FLPSA stands for Forest Lake Practical Shooting Assn, which would be handgun.

USPSA handgun!

... "Points" means it's a match that yer score will be tallied with yer score from "Points" matches shot at other clubs (one per year) ... at the end of the season, the one with the most "Points" takes 1st place ... and so on

If ya ain't concerned about how ya might place at the end of the season, ya don't need to know anything more 'bout it! ;)

How does chronoing work at these matches ? I've never done that aspect of a match before.

Judging by the stage previews you've been posting on Facebook, this should be an awesome match.

Don't care about the weather, either. I'll be bringing my big blue easy-up for portable shelter :)

rules specify yer ammo, thru yer gun, must make yer declared pf (power factor)

lotsa folks who reload don't own/use a chrono ... or otherwise chrono'd their ammo in ideal conditions, er with another gun

to make sure everyone's shootin with the proper pf, once in a while, at a match, they measure it

each shooter shoots ... eh,I forget now ... maybe 3rd? ... average must make pf ... if not, I think ya get 2rd more to try to drag the average up

it's generally expected that if ya shoot/damage a chrono, ya bought it ... if yer not comfortable shootin thru a chrono, someone else typically will be

lotsa times, the chrono is declared malfunctioning, er someone shoots it, and all prior readings are voided

otherwise, if ya don't at least make minor pf, yer shootin fer fun

For chronoing it doesn't have to be through your gun but it had to make PF with a gun legal for the division you are shooting. Say you are shooting a 4" M&P and have issues making PF, you can grab a buddies 5" and then use it to retest. At least, that's what I recall from the rulebook.
