And I want to know WHO the fence sitters are and give them the hammer in a velvet glove treatment....respectful, persistent attention and support for their choice.

Which DFL ers saved our bacon? Debra Hilstom is one, who are the others?

Somebody (gocra) tell me where the front is....I know how to email the Legislators now (it's frickin easy) I assume the GOCRA leadership will have a pretty clear plan of attack....those guys did the MCPPA in 2003 and it took them 15 years...Joe Olson is a 'Wise Elder'

Agreed. They are not done yet. They will analyze the tactics we used and try to mirror them. We already saw that during the hearings. thankfully, we have the GOCRA to help keep watch on this. Not all states have that...

We also need to publicize this as much as possible around the country, so that other states realize that if you turn out the Pro-Rights crowd, the legislators have no option but to listen.

They are far more likely to move the ball their direction with small amendments/scaled back bills, these giant ponderous and generally unpopular attempts locally-nationally are cannon fodder and probes to figure out where to concentrate their efforts while wasting resources on the gun-right side of things. I'm sure there will be plenty of polling and focus groups going on tomorrow to measure what stuck to the wall and might have a chance of making it through on the next attempt either on straight up votes or procedural shenanigans.

FYI, MPR is saying the universal background check is DOA, but Paymar may try to roll the 'gun show loophole' mess in to another bill, so keep your eyes open. This may come up again in Paymar's committee Thursday evening.

Wouldn't it fail the germaneness test for the single subject rule like the unconstitutional MPPA of 2003? (admittedly I didn't check what else is on the schedule for that committee)

LINK to live House Hearings tonight 7:00 pm

Rep. Cornish told me after the meeting that what happened was bad. Paymar lost his bill, but there was most likely some kind of back room deal where an amendment will be added to the prosecutors bill that will screw us. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be the case, I really don't know what to think.

I'm expecting a GOCRA email sometime tomorrow with a complete explanation...

Don't forget to email/call/etc those who might not be of your party of choice and who did not back Paymar on this one particular bill, and thank them for their support. Tell then how this reaffirmed your faith in them and validated your belief they value their constituents over the national party-line. Heck, do the same for those that did back Paymar so they see what they are missing! Let them know what a "one issue voter" you are and how opposing legislation like this is a great way to keep their job in 2014. Remember, there will be more bills, votes, etc... to come and we need continued support. The future is as fluid as it has ever been.
