NRA ad "*resident's daughters better than yours"

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/01/nra-ad-calls-obama-elitist-hypocrite-ahead-of-gun-violence-plan/

NRA ad wrote:“Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools, when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school?” the narrator says.

“Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security,” it continues. “Protection for their kids and gun-free zones for ours.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement that the ad was “repugnant and cowardly.”

“Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used as pawns in a political fight,” said Carney. “But to go so far as to make the safety of the President’s children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly.”

But using 20 murdered Sandy Hook children ... and the few on-stage, today ... as "pawns in a political fight", is not "repugnant and cowardly"?!

My boss and I got into a heated debate about guns today and he played this and said what a bunch nuts of course the presidents kids are protected ever since george washington the presidents kids have been protected. To which I replied yea but if he's so worried about his kids why shouldnt all kids be protectes. And he didnt have an answer.

So why are his kids so much better other then because hes the president.

I think the more straightforward point is... clearly, the *resident believes a gun, on the hip of someone who knows how to use it, is not only adequate protection for his own children, but it also otherwise outweighs any potential risks!

...in other words, he not only has no problem with it, he sees no reason to attempt to improve upon it...for his own children!

If a teacher, with a PTC, and the training that goes with it, were only 1/10th as effective, if it has a chance to save just one child's life, we should do it! ;)

In the same vein, why are cops so much more important that they can have the "assault weapons" that they want to deprive the rest of us of?

I may not be executing high risk warrants, but the possibility does exist that I may encounter the very same bad guy the that cops have determined they require an "assault weapon" to deal with. Is not my life or the life of my family just as important as that of a police officer? Why should I be prevented from owning the very best tools available to protect myself from the bad guys?

The answer - arrogance and elitism. They are more special, more important than the rest of us, and they can have access to protection that they would deny the rest of us.

Their (George Washington's kids) teacher probably had a rifle hanging in the classroom.

I think this ad hits the nail on the head regarding how the ruling class feel about the "rank and file" people in this country.
Donald Trump got more fat women moving in one day than Michelle Obama did in eight years.

Ya'll are free to disagree but I think the NRA missed an opportunity here. When they could have recounted the prominent history of arms in our country, OR discussed the plight of those who do not enjoy such a right around the world, OR educated the uninformed about ballistics and mag changes, they instead went to a relatively knee jerk argument which is easily dismissed. I don't expect the US taxpayer to buy me or my kids free rides on a Boeing 747 and yet BHO's kids have that privilege. Face it, there are certain security precautions taken for the heads of states and this comparison by the NRA (an organization I support) was amateurish. I expect better and if we are to win the day, both today and tomorrow, we should all demand better.

Keep in mind that in response to NRA's suggestion that armed police or security be put in every school, Obama said "I don't see how guns in schools will make kids safer." My impression was that the ad is in reply to that statement.

Politicians don't hate guns, they hate that we have guns. They love guns, to advance their progressive agenda and foreign policy.

So if the *resident's kids are off limits for making a political statement why do they keep getting drug into the mess from obama? If they can be used on one side they gonna be used on the other. Like it or not they are public figures for the time being.
