Looking for some .22LR ammo in the cities

Postby hirdlej on Wed Jan 09, 2013 3:19 pm

Can't find any at walmart or fleetfarm. Does anyone know where I can find some decent .22LR plinking ammo around town? I'd prefer the federal champion bulk packs. Those have always worked great in my Ruger. I'm looking to pay 3.9-4.1 cents a round.

What ff and wm did you look at? Surely not all of them?

Gander Mountain in Woodbury told me tonight that their next ammo shipment comes in tomorrow. Might call one near you in the morning and verify availability.

Is this even a serious post? Or did the all the guys with AR .22s buy up all that ammo too? I guess I have never had this problem ever..... ever. You just gotta look harder. Joes sporting goods. Gander. Anywhere that has ammo pretty much. Quite honestly if I ever went to a sporting goods store and they were completely out of rimfire I would talk to management and tell them they need to get their **** and stock orders together.

Looking for some .22LR ammo in the cities

Bulk Federal .22 has been harder to come by. I haven't seen any on my last three trips to Brooklyn Park Fleet Farm and WalMart. I didn't see any minimags there either. I bought the last two boxes of Winchester bulk at fleet farm earlier last week. The had 1 big box(1000 rnds) of Winchester M-22 at WalMart for $46.99. No mini mags at either location as well. No bulk at Federal at Cabelas Rogers last week either. They did have mini-mags for 6.99 and a few boxes of cci ar tactical .22 for $21.

Good luck on your search. Keep hunting, it's out there, just have to dig a little deeper.

I was going to recommend Gun Broker BUT I took a look, Holly Crap it's a feeding frenzy.
I got a case, free shipping a bit ago, glad i did.
It's still worth a try if it's not out there any place else.
I did notice wall mart down here has a lot of open space on the ammo shelves too.

Yes this post is completely serious. All the walmarts in the twin cities are sold out of bulk .22LR ammo. Both Federal and Winchester. All the Mills Fleet Farm's are sold out as well. I don't want to stoop low enough to feed my pistol with remington thunderbolts.

Cabelas is sold out as well of anything in "bulk" sized packaging. I'll get on the horn this morning and call gander and Joe's. If nothing, I'll be traveling out of town this weekend, perhaps a stop or two at some roadside sporting goods stores.

The same thing happened after the 2008 election.
First half of '09 .22LR was very popular.

What do you consider bulk? I saw 333 Winchester at Walmart in lakeville today. One less box now but still had some.

I just took a quick look around the web and outside of the higher end match ammo there doesn't look to be much available.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Fleet farm in Lakeville has Winchester HP 333 in a box for $13 and change. Fair amount on the bottom shelf yesterday!

For anyone else looking for 22LR, I was at the Inver Grove Heights Walmart tonight and they had a whole shelf slot full of the Federal bulk pack for $21.77. A bit of 45ACP for $20ish a box and a lone box of 38spl.

I've been looking online for Wolf Match Ammo. I think the last 5000 rd case was around $500 last summer. Every where I look it's $799- 999, and sold out.
