Actually this is what I was thinking of....basically some task is performed before the first shot....

The vid shows 6 stages of the Florida IDPA championship...very sophisticated set ups....

You can see in one of the stages a woman has to retrieve her gun from her purse, a guy has to get a gun from under the cash register...another stage has the shooter lying in bed and has to retrieve the weapon from the night stand....all before firing the first shot.

It's too ambitious for the small space in Burnsville but part of the value of this type of shooting is to train your subconscious reactions. You are obviously super-human and have no need for this training but the rest of us mortals might find it helpful :)

I was in a defensive shooting 'in real life' and the most important thing I can share from that is that 'you will NOT have time to think...your behavior will be what you have practiced' The event will be over before the top part of your brain can kick in.

And thanks for everyone who volunteers at Burnsville and Oakdale :)

They are games not training is the main point and your reference video is a IDPA match which is a different game then at Burnsville. You can shoot the matches how you wish as long as it's done safely but don't expect a lot a of support for your suggestions when it comes to the shooting games. That doesn't mean your wrong, just wrong suggestions for gamers.

Just talked to Roger this morning. We didn't discuss the winter league. I choose not to add that pressure to their situation.

He told me they had planned to open the north pistol bay by December 1. It doesn't look like that's going to happen. The good news though, it appears both north and south bays will be done and ready for business before January 1.

Take what you want from this message. Best case scenario is that we start our winter league in January.

Having attended a couple steel shoots this year and experiencing how fun that was and how nice the people were I'm excited to try this. I have a few questions I hope I can get help with.

I'm going to shoot with a FNP 45, what class is that? Also, I only have 3 magazines, they're minimum 14 rounds though, and they're back ordered everywhere until April. Is that passable? What's the round count for a night? When is new shooter orientation?

Thanks, James

Your FNP would normally be shot in Production or Limited or Limited 10, if you only have 3 mags, you will probably have to shoot limited. Bring a holster, mag pouches and about 100 rounds (although I dont think I have ever used more that 60).

Vrrrrrroooooooooommmmmmmmm can probably help you with new shooter orientation dates.
