I believe physics would say no, Newton's third law, for every action there is an opposite-equal reaction.

Force = mass X acceleration......240 grains moving at around 800 feet per second = ??? foot-pounds of energy. All I know is that hitting a June bug on a motorcycle at 60mph stings like mad. Won't knock you off your bike but will certainly distract you. Now a .45 bullet has got to have more energy than a June bug moving at 60mph...right? Just saying.......

Did not say it would not hurt, but if it did not knock down the shooter, it should not knock down the target.

(I am strictly talking physics, how the biology would respond i could only guess).

Ok, thanks. The Mythbusters episode explained it very well (one that I must have missed as I LOVE Mythbusters).

maybe you guys have already covered this (didn't read all 12 pages) but wasn't the shooter wearing simply a tactical vest and not body armor?

The Answer is NO

HOWEVER - if you are shot wearing body armor of the appropriate level - the body will react to the shot (pain) and you may fall down. If you are shot with a vest on - there is a substantial chance that you will be injured significantly. Hence a good reason for shooting the highest velocity, smallest in frontal area projectile possible. (trust me, I do this for pay)

This is the reason for a "Failure to Stop Drill" Body shots are not working - you may have to go to the head (which is almost impossible) and/or to the pelvis.

Seems to that that with all the copy-cats coming out of the woodwork, this is precisely the time to carry.

Yup - and your best bet for being allowed to carry unmolested by LEOs is to carry concealed... 8-)

There's no way this guy should receive any legal consequence for his actions, but all he did was cause himself to be disarmed temporarily and therefore unable to defend himself against attack - which is presumably why he carries in the first place...
