FYI I contacted Springfield, and got confirmation that the 3 free mags does indeed include the new XDM 3.8 Compact :D

Very nice!

I'm either getting one of the XDm 9mm 3.8 SC's and giving the GF the XD9sc or getting a XDm in the .45 flavor...

Hard to decide, maybe I just need to get both!

But did they say the mags are for the full size or the short mags with the extensions

They did not, unfortunately. I would expect to receive the flush-fitting mags, as I believe that is what they include with the SC, but that is just speculation. It would be nice to pick and choose a couple different ones.

The rebate form says they will ship magazines that correspond to the model of the serial number you submit. In the past they have sent a mixture of both types of mags with the compacts, but you could probably include a note with your preference.

Cool, thanks Joe! I'll give that a try when I send in the rebate form.

So far I have only seen black ones, I am holding out for a bitone 3.8 Compact.

I picked up my XDm9C in bitone tonight (big ups to Thunderjohn!) and feel like a kid on Christmas. Such a sweet gun! Feels great in hand, the new slide serrations grab really well, can't believe how nice the XDm cases are too. Great combination of looks, ergonomics, and function. Tomorrow I am going to fit my Pearce grip extension to the flush-fitting mag. A couple of pics (haven't seen any in bitone yet other than mine):

Looks like a sweet piece!

John was saying he already sold all of the ones he ordered up.

I'm sure it will be a big item for awhile.

If they are as good as the XD's are (which I know they are) they will sell like hotcakes as the XDsc's did when they first came out.

Too bad Springfield doesn't have a trade-up program! :D

Unfortunately for me I got hit in the side of the face with the 1911 bug again, so my future looks like more metal than poly for now.

Even if I did get a XDm, the XDsc would still stay right where it is, on my side!

I modified the Pearce grip extension from my XD9SC, I think it looks and feels great. I'll be modifying some others when I get my 3 free mags.

Looks badass...

I thought you can use the xd mags with either xd's or xdm's?

That's what I've heard, don't own one.

If that's true, why modify? Learn me!

Nope, the XD45 mags will work in the XDm 45 but the 9 and 40 mags are not interchangeable between the XD and XDm.

Thanks! Learn something new. Was watching hickok45 on you tube, he had a xd45 mag for his XDm .45. Makes sense. :high5:

I think I am going to ask Erik to make me another holster with sting-ray inlaid into it. Not sure if I want red or blue this time...

Finally got to try out the XDm at Metro over the weekend, and I'm really impressed with the gun. The longer sight radius is a welcome addition, while keeping the short grip. First group of 13 rounds went into about a 1.5" group at 7 yards (my groups opened up considerably with the target all the way back). Took a little bit to figure out POI, but it seems to be that instead of putting the sight just below where you want to hit, you have to place the sight directly covering your target.

The trigger out of the box was noticeably better than my XD9SC, although still heavier than I like. Will probably do some polishing of the sear and striker to smooth things out. All in all I'm really happy with the firearm, and am glad that I sold my XD9SC in favor of this. Its just like it but better :) Plus, carrying it IWB in a Crossbreed Supertuck is both comfy and hidden.
