Place to shoot outdoors next week?

Postby Pat Cannon on Thu Sep 16, 2010 3:49 pm

Hi, my brother's in town from Colorado next week. We're going to drive from my house (South Mpls) to go camping, probably at Interstate park by Taylor's Falls. He was wondering if there was a good place to do some shooting on our way out there, which would probably be Tuesday morning. If I'd had the foresight, and money, to join Oakdale that would've been ideal, but I see their public shooting is basically closed for the season.

(I am hoping to get him to stick around long enough to go to the USPSA-style match at Burnsville on Thursday.)

Anyway, suggestions appreciated. And who knows, maybe the weather will suck and we'll go to Bill's. Thanks!

You're wrong, BWCA breath!! Public shooting is weekends until early October, and then it goes 7 days a week public until just before Thanksgiving. I checked my calendar, and weekdays are still open to members and up to three guests. Seeing as my therapy dog work with Sasha is M-W-F, I am free Tuesday and Oakdale is 6 minutes away from my house. You wanna go Tuesday morning AFTER 9:00/9:30. PM me and we can work out the details.

Hey Sam you're awesome, I take back everything I ever said about you. PM on its way.

P.S. The BWCA smells good, mostly.

Since Sam brought it up, and for the sake of accuracy, Oakdale will be open 7 days a week beginning Saturday, Sept 25th through Sunday, Nov 21st, 8am-4pm, $15 per shooter...

That still means it is "members only" during the week next week though, and Pat & friend will be able to shoot for free with Sam playing host... 8-)

Or I would have offered, as it is my 62 acres of heaven/backyard.
Technically we are open to the public 7 days a week 8am-4pm, starting September the 27th

Or, more technically, since the club is in fact open on both Saturday 9/25 & Sunday 9/26, OGC will be open 58 consecutive days, from 9/25 through 11/21 - from 8-4pm, as Brit mentioned... ;)

But technically as the first day, outside the Summer schedule, that we are open to the public 8am-4pm, that would be Sept 27th. ;)

Did we mention Oakdale Gun Club will be open 7 days a week 8am-4pm starting next week, so for a safe place to shoot, stop by and introduce yourself.
Rates, $15 per shooter, bring the arsenal, and the ammo shoot all day (8am-4pm) 8-)

Or, come up to the (soon to be frozen) tundra on NW Minnesota. We can go to a nice outdoor range, freeze our butts off in the wind and generally not enjoy the day. On the upside, I'll bring a smg to shoot. :)

We were out Saturday morning at the range just outside Perham for a few hours. We enjoyed the day.

Of course, we shot better on the range than the golf course later in the day.....

Oakdale now has propane heaters on the ranges during the winter months....

Oakdale is very nice! Thanks again, Sam, for your hospitality, and especially for letting us try the 50 GI and the 45 Super, very cool.
