Favorite 1911 - That you have actually OWNED

Postby Flip on Sat Apr 03, 2010 5:33 pm

Not all of us are able to own Les Baer, Wilson Combat, or the other top of the line 1911's but for those who have the means to experience many different manufacturers, I'm wondering what is your favorite 1911 (traditional single-stack) that you've actually owned and shot ... and why.

none of the above....

If you want to own a REAL 1911....

You need a Sistema 1927

The only 1911 that I own/have owned is a Kimber Warrior.

It's also my favorite 1911 of all the 1911s I've ever shot. Probably my favorite pistol period.

Kinda depends on what use it is intended for:

Carry - EMP
Single stack - Springfield Loaded
Bullseye - Colt Gold Cup from their custom shop
USPSA - STI

I have owned an Ed Brown Kobra Carry which I absolutely adored, as well as several pistols from Nighthawk Custom. I would without hesitation recommend either one of these suppliers.

Kimber Custom Target II. My first and only 1911 so far and it's been really good to me. It's actually a fairly basic 1911 apart from the adjustable rear sight. Generally makes me look really good on the range.
I have a Colt Python and you don't so what do I care...

My one and only Taurus. I've not had a chance to shoot the high end ones, but have shot some of the others, I still like my Taurus. Probably because it's mine.

Hells yea!

My springfield isn't really a loaded anymore, since the only original parts it has on it now are the frame, slide (which has been modified), barrel, and trigger (modified). Oh, I guess I have the hammer (modified) and grip safety still as well. It's more of a frankenstein now, but it's my monster!

PS> I like springfields better than Kimbers, at least from my experience shooting my brothers grand Raptor....

I voted Springfield since my Loaded Black Stainless is the only 1911 I own and it is excellent. That being said, I've also had good experiences with Kimber and many other manufacturers as well.
