Dry fired seems a little rough but I didn't have mega rounds thru the gun before I sent it. I'm expecting to run it this weekend.but anticipate based on other comments that regardless of what I have, it'll improved e with .ore rounds sent downrange.

My XDS 45 is on it's way back to me. Sent it October 1st. It worked flawlessly when I shipped it out so hopefully it will work flawlessly when I get it back. It is my favorite carry gun. I already have a range trip planned to try it out.

As a followup range report, just sent a couple boxes downrange, and it does get better. Shot a box and walked away for a while, then came back to it. The trigger seemed less gritty and crisper the second box, and by the end of the second box was breaking nice and crisp like it used to, and smoother than when I started. Pull weight can't saw, I dont have a scale, but can't seem to readily identify a great difference. I was trying to arrange a test with one that hasn't been sent back yet as a comparison, but it fell through.

Damn FedEx. When I got my notice that they shipped my XDS back to me, I called FedEx because no one is at home here during the day. I was specifically told they would deliver after 6pm when I would be home. Yep...they came early...got the infamous "door tag". So I called them and tried again to make other arrangements for delivery to the local FedEx store. The following conversation occurs:

"Some one will call you tomorrow, Sir," I am told.
"Excuse me? Why can't we take care of this right now?" I ask.
"I don't know what store to send it to, Sir."
"I have the address right here." I say.
FedEx lady takes address down.
"So it will be there tomorrow then?" I ask.
"I can't say, Sir."
"What do you mean you can't say?"
"I put the note in your file, someone will call you tomorrow."
"I will be with a customer all day tomorrow, I won't be able to answer the phone," I say.
"Well, you can check the tracking number and see if it's there."

Really FedEx? This is the best you can do? After you already screwed up?
Now my gun is sitting in some warehouse somewhere and I really have no idea when I will see it again. Thanks alot FedEx.

<end rant>

leftoverture,

Sadly the simplest way to do this is...
1. Sign up for FedEx Delivery Manager (free)
2. Track package
3. Opt to customize delivery time for evening (5PM-8PM) (costs $5)

That's what I did, driver showed up right at 5PM. They will not redirect a firearm to a retail store or hold at depot upon request. You either be home, pay the $5 to get it in the evening, or pick it up at the depot AFTER 3 delivery attempts have been made. Some get lucky at smaller depots and pick it up the evening after the attempted delivery. Good luck at a big one in the cities.

Calling them gets you no where, you can't even schedule evening delivery by calling, you must do it online.

Grimbeaver- the problem is I don't get home until nearly 6pm so paying for 5-8pm just made no sense. None-the-less I was able to pick it up tonight at the depot in Roseville, where the sign on the door, ironically, told me FedEx bans guns on these premises. Haha.

Jeffo,
The first attempt to arrange it failed. I will try again to arrange a comparison shoot in the next 2 days.

And the second range attempt failed. I shoot outdoors all year round, but the owner of the pre-fix gun was too cold this weekend to come for a comparison shoot.

It was a struggle with the cold, wind and snow, but got a camparison shoot done today on two 45 XDs's, one pre-fix and one post fix.
The pre-fix gun has approx 2 boxes through it, the post-fix gun had 6 boxes through it before and 2 after the fix.
Tried to do a blind comparison. Knowing my own serial, I covered both with a blanket and inserted a mag in one, gave it to my tester while I loaded the other mag into the other gun. Took both guns back, repeated the procedure 2 more times. He liked my post fix gun better all 3 times.

I showed him the serial number ID process, and we changed out, and he did the same for me. I was able to identify my gun, and preferred it. Had his gun had more rounds, I think it would have smoothed out, but after now 3 boxes through post fix, I can definitely say my trigger has improved with shooting it, becoming less gritty and the pull seems to be lighter than initially post fix.

No firing issues with either, but then tore both down for a thorough cleaning.

From my own experience, I'm glad I sent it.

Your mileage may vary.
