Question about Glock Mags:

Postby Seismic Sam on Sat May 25, 2013 9:26 am

Found something at the range that will be in another post, but a question occurred to me that I don't know the answer to:

Are Glock mags somewhat interchangeable?? Seeing as Glock makes a huge assortment of guns, and they all have boxy double stack construction, did they standardize the width to some degree? For example, would a Glock 9mm mag "more or less" fit in a 40, and would a .40 Glock mag "more or less" fit in a 45?? I know EAA 40 and 10mm mags are "kinda" interchangeable, as long as you don't try to put 10mm ammo in a 40 mag. You may be able to see where this is going to go, but I thought I'd ask the question to see what the answer might be. Thanks for any enlightenment you can offer!!

9 and 40 are "pretty much" interchangable, as they will fit in the wrong caliber weapon.

I think the .45GAP mags will fit in the 9mm/.40/.357sig frames, as well.

Also--10mm/.45acp mags will fit in the other caliber (ie, G20 in a G21).

About the only Glock with unique mags is the G36.

Thank you!! Further searching yielded a hit on the Mech-Tech system to use a Glock frames as part of a carbine configuration, and they did state that mags from the 45 and 10mm were interchangeable, and that you should NOT try firing a 10mm in a 45 configuration!! DUUUHHH!!!

Unfortunately, this interchangability has occurred with shooters who aren't paying attention, and/or are TFSTKTD, and I was trying to figure out how it would be possible to load 40 ammo in a 45 mag, and didn't think THAT was possible.

Back during the ban years I used a Glock 23 10 round mag in a Glock 19 - it held 13 rounds of 9mm and always worked. Glock 22 mags will also work in your 17.

here is a chart that I believe shows compatability. I was in the field till 4am, so my thinker isn't too speedy, correct me if I'm wrong.

Back to the topic, sorry! I've thought about finding larger high cap mags for my 19, but realized it defeats the purpose for me.

I've seen that kit before -- about $600. The bonus is that I'd have to pick up a G20 too so I have the frame for it to ride on.
