I hope you like it more than I did.I had .40 for a short while.Too much recoil and I hated the trigger.Gonna get a Sig P290RS instead.I really wanted to like the Shield,but oh well.

I tried both, the 40 isn't even close to the 9 IMO.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

The recoil from the .40 takes some practice. 180gr factory loads are fun to shoot, but my 180gr HSTs pack a pretty good wallop. Follow up shots take a while when compared to a G23 or sub compact 9mm.
