Discussion of handguns

Just picked up my XD40SC.

Postby Irish.40 on Sat Feb 25, 2012 10:22 pm

Today I went to the Anoka Gun Show and purchased my first handgun. After an inspection I took it to the range and was very impressed with it. I am new to handguns but was able to shoot groupings within 2" at 5yds and 3" at 8yds. It shoots like a dream. Feels like it was made for my hands. I have a lot to learn but my friend/instructor, yes he actually is an instructor, was impressed with the weapon and my abilities. I put 100 rounds through and can't wait for more. Thanks to all who post here for the insight and knowledge. :D Oh, and yes, tomorrow it will get a thorough cleaning!!

Congrats. It was nice meeting you, and thanks again.
You made a good choice.

John, it was a pleasure doing business with you! I had hoped to spend more time with you to pick you brain and all. I look forward to our next transaction. You came highly recommended and well deserved, I must say. My wife, who isn't the biggest fan of guns, likes how it feels and is actually looking forward to going to the range with me and learning to shoot. Thanks again!

That was my very first handgun. If you haven't already, pick up a couple Pearce grip/pinky extensions for your mags. They make the gun slightly less concealable, but make for a more comfortable grip and allow for better control of the gun.

Yup, going to go shopping for them today. I am looking for a local resource for cheap FMJ's. Also, does anyone know of an outdoor range? I have been searching but haven't found anything legit. Lots of gun clubs that don't allow pistols. I have searched on this site but was really confused by the state land debate.

Where are you located? When I had my XD I had no problem shooting Tula or blazer from Walmart.

I've heard they do not, but I'm not sure. Eden Prairie does.
