Sig 556-A2 Conversion

Well I just could not take the Sig USA Stock any more. Being 6'7" it was simply too short and did not afford me a good cheek weld. So I either needed a different stock or I needed to dump the rifle.

After some Google searches and conversations, I decided to purchase the Double Diamond stock adapter and use an AR-15A2 stock that had laying around from a SBR project years ago. Installation was quite smooth and I am favorable impressed with the Double Diamond adapter. The difference with the handling characteristics of the rifle were instantly noticeable and very favorable for my shooting style. I elected to use the earlier smooth A1 buttplate with trapdoor.

I installed the Israeli Patrol sling using a HK Front claw and an IDF sling adapter for the front mount and used 550 Paracord Israeli fashion on the A2 Buttstock which has been my favored method for many years.

The resulting rifle has been very impressive at the range and I am looking forward to hunting with it this fall.

Looks nice, what are you planning on hunting with it?

Very nicely done. I have two 556s, and one of them came with a nice Magpul CTR, but the other has the same P.O.S. stock that you didn't like. Now you've got me thinking about an upgrade!
