This used to be an all black gun.

It is a 50 BMG State Arms "Shorty" Action, with a Heavy Feddersen 34" Barrel that has been custom Match Chambered .554 Neck (by OldmanFCSA) and an Amalite Tank Break. It is all bedded into a Manners Carbon Fiber Stock. It has a NightForce 12x42x56 Benchrest Scope.

I used a spray Duracoat Blueing on the action and barrel. I then bedded the action using Devcon 10111. I then primed and painted the stock using auto paint and clear coat.

The front and rear slides are custom made by OldmanFCSA. He has also made me a custom rear rest for benchrest shooting in the FCSA matches at 1000 yds.

Not bad at all. The gun originally had a State Arms Fishgill brake and the recoil is quite stout. When we changed to the Armalite Brake, it dramatically reduced felt recoil. I liken the recoil to a 12 ga with a good field load. However, it is more of a push, than a slap. The gun weighs around 39 lbs, which also aids. I am working on a load for it and plan to shoot 800gr Lehigh Brass Boreriders and 245gr of Reloader 50.

(Note: This is a Match Load verified in this gun, with a Match Chamber. Do not copy without testing and verification in any other gun.)

That rifle would be great for driving fence posts - BigDog can tell the story behind that comment, the fix, and the new way to resolve the original issue. (Wasfuzz - it was all black when this happened.)

I finally got the last Swiss OD Green part I needed. The Swiss Grey/OD Green color combo is pretty slick!

And while we're at it, here are some black guns. Some are blacker than others.
