No it has a 16.5 inch barrel.Looks short because of the quad rail on it.Check 'em out @ mechtechsys.com.

You're right, it really does look short. I'm curious of velocity loss.

How does it handle? I can only guess it's reeeally light.

Somebody refresh my memory.

Legally, one can make a pistol into a >16" barrelled rifle, and then back to a pistol:

Pistol -- > Rifle (w>16" barrel) -- > Pistol

...but you can't go the other way (w/o tax stamp), turning a rifle into a pistol, right?

Rifle -/- > Pistol
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Almost. Tax stamp or not, a rifle can never become a pistol. Only an sbr.

It actually increases velocity. The company claims up to 40% IIRC.I doubt that much, but I saw a youtube video where a guy shot a Glock through a crono and then his Sub 2000 and it did have more oompf,if you know what I mean.As far as the legal issue,I bought a G17 frame that I use only with my Mech Tech.It handles okay but it is not light. It's like a Ruger.Built like a tank.

ATF issued a ruling a year or two ago saying that is not the case anymore in their eyes. It seems to fly in the face of the law as written, but they now allow you to change a pistol into a rifle and then back again. For now, anyway.

... I said nothing about something that was originally a pistol. I only talked about a rifle trying to be turned into a pistol.

Are you in the Twin Cities? I'll take you up on that! I'll bring my AR and the few other toys I have to share the love.

They are talking about the legality of switching it back and forth. That is why I bought a frame to use with just the carbine.I didn't figure the BATF would go after anyone for doing so (switching it back and forth),but did it that way "just in case".Just like my AR pistol has a receiver marked "pistol".Just being safe.
