Greetings All,

I recently made the move back home to Minnesota from the People's Republic of Massachusetts. Although still far, far from perfect, the "freedom" of having arrived here from the clutches of Massachusetts is palpable. I was an occasional purveyor of personal liberty on Northeast Shooters (http://www.northeastshooters.com) , and I'm looking forward to making MNGunTalk a daily visit as well.

I'll be house and club hunting in the west metro throughout the coming months, so hopefully I'll cross paths with a few of you on the range in the future.

Good luck. Good information here, some very knowledgeable seasoned shooters, reloaders and collectors. Not the sexiest (with some notable exceptions), tacticool gun forum out there, but a good group.

I also escaped Massachusetts for here back in 2005. I previously lived in Quincy and Taunton.

H&H - Fairly open at this point - anything from Shakopee to Maple Grove and as west as Mound. It'll all depend on the lot and bones.

Bryan - I was in Boston, so my LTC was automatically restricted. It's still unbelievable what a Boston resident has to go through even for a neutered license beyond them being "may issued". Then there's the logic of someone living 2 miles down the road being allowed to carry within the city, yet I cannot because I happen to be an actual resident of that city. Again, extremely happy to be out of there.

Welcome back. I travel out to the Boston area 3-4 times a year for work. Mostly work but this last October I stayed over for a weekend with my wife in the city. Really terrific city for walking around. Awesome lobster rolls at Yankee Lobster Co!

But yeah...it sucks that they’re so anti gun out there.

INOR - It is a really aesthetically-pleasing city, that's for sure. And like you said, it's very accessible to most part of the city, whether through the T or hoofing it. Unfortunately, there is definitely an elitist attitude out there which has worked its way up top for the "rules for thee, but not for me" state agents. The state isn't completely lost yet, but the idea that Boston was once the Cradle of Liberty reads like historical fiction by today's eyes.

We lived in Fall River, MA in 1958 and left in the Fall of 1959. MA wasn't quite as left wing back then but still a little strange to a person from the midwest..

I was in the Navy at the time otherwise I'd never choose to live out east. Even then I couldn't wait to leave. Our oldest boy was born there.

How are the cities and towns outside of Boston? The youngest so is interviewing for a Chemical Engineer position in one of the towns (I can't remember which one right now) that's about an hour outside of Boston. He went to college in Upstate NY, and right now, lives in Madison, WI. It might be healthier for him to get some added space, between him and his mom. He's gone totally Left, and mom (my Sweetie) is about as far Right as you can get. She came here in 1990, after immigrating from Lviv, Ukraine, and she get Pi$$ed every time the kid starts talking about Socialism. He doesn't understand that she lived the 1st 28 years of her life under the USSR, and their failed socialist plan.

'The only downside I see, is if I'm persuaded (Read as Forced) to go visit him in the Hell of the NE if or when, he and his girlfriend get married. She is working as a Mechanical Engineer with Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut, and her parents live in New Jersey. I've been to P&W in East Hartford, CT way back in the 1980's, and still, have zero desire to go back. Anything North of North Carolina, is not, where I care to visit, along the East Coast

It's lengthy, but has some great insight into how brutal certain jurisdictions can be.

It can be hard to win the argument against, "well that wasn't REAL socialism!" when spouted by those who have zero real-world experience with how that kind of philosophy has actually been carried out throughout history. Most often it's akin to slamming your face into a concrete wall. It's always refreshing to me when meeting or speaking to immigrants from USSR satellites or Asian countries under communist/socialist rule in how they boast about the freedom that can be found here (though strained at times) including the 2A. Yet, those voices of reason and experience are always drowned out or disregarded entirely by the shrieking banshees that have no understanding of what true freedom actually entails.
