Hello from Richfield

Postby Vashjir on Tue Jan 28, 2014 1:18 am

Hey everyone,
My name is Phil. I've been lurking the forum for a while and decided to join up. I'm a fairly new shooter, and partially disabled (right arm) I'm also a long gun fan so finding things I can shoot well will probably take a lot of trial and error.
I currently have a (cheaply) scoped marlin 795 that is balanced great for 1 handed shooting, and I recently picked up a cosmoline caked mosin m91/30 that will be a fun little project restoring to an aesthetically pleasing and functional state. The threads on the mosin contest from a couple years ago are giving me all kinds of fun ideas.

Thanks for the welcome Jim, I figured there might be a few other 'adaptive' shooters around. And you're right, I'm probably not more than a mile from you.

Hi there !! I'm a little further away than Jim, but if you need any questions answered I will try my best.

Although I don't HUNT long distance, I like to SHOOT long distance, with my target guns in 50BMG.
These are too heavy to shoot off-hand, so we shoot Prone or off the bench, which is a Sport you can participate in easily.
Many 50BMG shooters have a handicap of some type, and ALL OLTHERS are very helpful to support their needs.
Just ask BigDog58 how it works.

Targets are just below crest of hill = look closely = 1000 yards.

Have fun and feel free to ask questions. I also teach reloading.

Lol, looks like a blast (literally), but I may have forgotten to mention that I'm also a cheap s.o.b.. Maybe in a decade or so when I can justify dropping 5-10k on something other than house projects.
Thank you for the welcome though, If I acquire any guns that fire ammo over 20¢/round I will definitely be interested in reloading, but with .22lr and 7.62/54r it seems a bit silly. Then again, I have little doubt my collection will be growing.

John, I'm cheap too. That's why I reload. I don't save any money however, because now I shot more and I NEVER have trouble finding ammo. Except for .22 LR but I have plenty of it stored.
