Retiring Chief Tim Dolan to aid Gun Control Groups

Postby bstrawse on Fri Nov 02, 2012 7:27 pm

Disappointing, but I guess not at all unexpected.

http://www.startribune.com/local/minnea ... 44791.html

Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan, who retired on Friday after six years as chief, said he'll spend some of his newfound spare time doing volunteer work for "reasonable" gun control groups.

"It's always been a passion of mine," he said of gun control. "I worked at it quite a bit as chief, and there's a lot of work still to be done."

Dolan said he plans to help the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence in Washington, D.C., the Joyce Foundation in Chicago and a local group, Protect Minnesota: Working to End Gun Violence.

Heather Martens, executive director of Protect Minnesota, said she met with Dolan on Wednesday at his office to discuss what he will do for her group.

"I think, basically, he will be a resource on gun policy ... and give feedback on legislation," said Martens. "He has always been a voice for preventing gun violence."

Well, I guess we now know what the kickback was for his support on gun control.

It's one thing to be a sniveling, servile toadie to keep your job in the Mr greenjeans regime. It's quite another to do so voluntarily.

Haven''t any one of these Gun control freaks experienced first hand a Violent crime? I have and will never go down without making sure my attacker is dead.

Dolan is a wuss. In the words of that Minnesota Loser, Walter Mondale....he doesn't have 'The fire in the belly' He just wants something to do when he gets bored with watching cable TV.

He was a 9-5 er when Chief....now he's got too much time on his hands....plus the guy isn't that smart....the Chief of Chaska....Captn'Bling Bling...testifies whenever there is gun legislation ....at least he has some (tired) arguments....Dolan is just taking up space and wants to feel important.

We will have a woman chief in Mpls now....any line on her? Surely a lib...just how left of center is TBD.

That's close to the question I'd ask any of the cops that are against civilian gun ownership:
Does your wife have access to a firearm for home protection???

good thing this could never be used against you in a trial or anything.........
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Is this the guy who has Dayton wrapped around his pinky so virtually guarantee no new pro gun legislation?

I'm guessing Chief Dolan will not be giving up his carry permit as a LEO. I have a token respect for opponents of carrying who don't, but politicians and others who can either be armed or have armed protectors are nothing but the worst hypocrites.
