Open carry definitely calls for a level 3 or 4 retention holder.

The problem as I see it that even with the highest level of retention you’re still going to take a beating. Once you’re incapacitated they might figure out a way to remove the firearm by either removing it from your holster or by brute force off your body. All the while the 10 people in store will video live stream it but not offer said video to law enforcement.

For me, open carry is while I’m working outdoors on my property. I can do that without any permit.

The law is there (per the guy who was one of the folks getting it through) principally to avoid issues with folks noticing a gun and getting all ape about it not being adequately concealed.

All that the folks running around displaying weapons in public do is make the rest of us look like jerks. Trying to make a political point by doing it just doesn’t help. The guys who support self defense are already on your side. You motivate the folks on the other side to be more strident. You make folks in the middle who can be convinced uncomfortable and open to the antis.

I’m not saying it should be illegal, but it sure is stupid and counterproductive.

Not to mention it’s not as good for keeping yourself safe. The extra .25 second draw speed would be better served by more situational awareness.

In most circumstances, I agree.

Though there are exceptions. Remember the MNCCRN open carry BBQs?
