Took the wife shooting...

Postby Irish.40 on Wed Feb 29, 2012 7:03 pm

It was her first time. We went to the Burnsville Pistol Range. It was my first time at that range. I liked it. A bit worn in the lobby, but good people behind the counter and in the range. The wife squeezed off her first round and surprisingly didn't drop it! I could tell it shocked the hell out of her. We fired 200 rds between us. Had a great time. The best part is she said she wants to do it again!

Were you with your wife and another guy on lane 7 at around 1600?
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

You got there right after I left.

Well, if you ever see a guy in a brown Lutsen hat with a hook on the bill, say hi!

Sounds like another new shooter, hooked and landed.
Good job!

Nice what were you two shooting. My girlfriend likes going to the range with me but she doesn't like shooting pistols bigger than .22. She has no problem with the .223 AR but I want her to get into a bigger caliber handgun.

I'm trying to get my neighbor to come out with me. Both he and his wife are thinking about getting their carry permits so it shouldn't be too hard.

We were shooting my XD40SC with 165gr. WB FMJ's. She liked it but the grip was too wide for her. She was taking all the recoil on her base thumb knuckle, which of course was affecting her accuracy. She did pretty good though. Hit the target about 50% of the time. She wants to try a smaller gun. I'm thinking my sisters Ruger 9mm. My hope is that she eventually gets comfortable enough with it to feel confident leaving one gun at home while I am out. Once I get my Carry permit that is.

A friend of mine took his wife shooting this week and by the time they finished shooting with his two recent buys (Springfield M1911 and a Taurus PT-92), she says "let's get a .22". He picked one up for her/them today. And I thought that she would never allow him to have a firearm of any type in their home. I guess people do change.
