The AR series of steels are basically just "harder" steels. Because they're harder, they're also more expensive and more difficult to work with. Not for his laser or my Plasma, but like drills and stuff.
Most of the steel targets you'll find are made from some grade of AR steel. CR (cold rolled) or HR (hot rolled) is another designation of steel and is what most bumpers,railings, etc... are made out of. Fine for shooting with a .22 but not much more.
I don't really deal with alot of thicker stuff like 3/8" and above, and definitely don't use much AR series steel, so feel free to contact Evan if you want some of these out of AR400 or AR500. I'm sure he has some drops that would be large enough. The design might have to change a little though... I have a feeling that they would bend at the "neck" right below the circle with that much power hitting them...
