Love Top's blades, good choice! Also a fan of Rat and Cold Steel. I've been looking at the Tops "Felony Stop" as of late, but a 2010 Harley has crashed my budget plans.. :|

Have to wait until I'm back at work to get a new knife.

Coming back to this thread...

Since I commented, I've actually had a knife design I've been kicking around for a few years produced. I've been testing the hell out of them and they do everything from feather sticks to splitting logs.

A question I wanted to ask: one sees various "survival" and "tactical" knives having any combination of recurved blades, hawkbills, clip points, notched spines, serrations, barbs, hollowed blades, etc. etc. What if any of these features have some functional purpose, and which mainly make a knife look "tacticool"?

Any black scary looking knife seems to hit the taticool mark.

I have one of these, just got it from Rob yesterday. I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces.

I ended up getting a Tops B.O.B. Knife. I love the sheath, and that it comes with a fire starter. I also love the feel and heft of the blade. It wasn't cheap, but I'm very happy with it.

Most of my field knives Camilus, and Air Force survival, are carbon. I also like my Buck which is stainless. None are very large, maybe ten inches. I don't have a problem with staining on carbon, because my grandfather taught me to use firewood ashes to polish the blade maybe 60 years ago. Don't scoff, it is easy, quick and keeps them real pretty. Most of the multi function knives are more trick than treat. Give me plain, simple, sturdy, and I am happy.
