New Breakfast Coordinator?

Postby W0THK on Mon Mar 17, 2008 9:03 am

I've been coordinating the third Saturday breakfasts for a little over two years now. It's been fun, but I'm ready to pass the baton and let somebody else take over. There isn't a lot to it - mainly just post a message once a month, and contact the restaurant with the particulars for that month. I'll be glad to assist in the transition.

Any volunteers??

I would but since I'm lucky to be there only 15 minutes late I don't think it would work out very well

Any takers? If not, perhaps we should just let the third Saturday breakfasts fade into the sunset.

I really hate to see that happen, you have been an exceptional coordinator,
regretfully, I can not do it, as I am far better at destruction that construction.................... ;)

Tom-

I just want to say thank you for running these breakfasts. They have been a lot of fun.

I have far too many conflicts to volunteer for this job.

This may be a bad question because I am on the outside looking in, but how much actual work is it? Not trying to belittle what WOTHK has been doing, but after the initial contact with the restaurant to make sure they can meet the needs, then after that it, would seem that it would be just a phone call to reserve and then posting the breakfast here.

Again, I don't know what kind of commitment is needed to do this, but maybe if WOTHK could give some insight, one of the regulars would be more than happy to pick it up and do the duty for a year or two.

That's about all there's to it. I typically post a message here on the Forum the Monday before. On Thursday afternoon, I compile a count and email it to Pastrami Jack's. Assuming he acknowledges (which he usually does), I'm done. If he doesn't acknowledge the email, I'll call the restaurant sometime Friday and let them know how many I expect.

It's certainly not a lot of work, but frankly, I'm getting a little tired of doing it. Also, with the North Side breakfast the week before, attendance has been declining recently. If somebody else wants to take the reins, that would be great. I'll be glad to help them get started. If not ......

Thanks for the kind words, HammAR and JoeH!!

Maybe one of you Southside guys should set up a breakfast a little further South? Maybe in Burnsville? South side of Bloomington?

Now that you're the boss, you can say breakfast is at 11.

Or 12, for that matter.
