GSW class signup

Monday April 26th at 6:30 pm, in Cologne about 20 minutes west of 494 in Eden Prairie. Take the new 212 west to Cologne.

Paramedic will present pre-ambulance care of gunshot wound. Material will be oriented to a general audience with or without medical training.

Cost will be $25. Class will be about 2 hours or so, depending on how many questions we all have. He promises some gory photos

It's possible we may be able to schedule another class on a Saturday for those who can't make it.

On topic, I hope you guys have a great class. I am one that thinks first-aid is a very useful tool to have in the toolbox. I have some experience with GSW treatment, both as a pro (RN in a hospital and an EMT-I in the field) and a grunt. My advice so that you can learn from mistakes other people made would be:

-don't administer first aid until the area is secure
-don't forget the exit wound(s)
-don't administer first aid until the area is secure
-call a pro as soon as possible
-don't dick around giving first aid until the area is secure

People with holes in them make crappy first-responders and great patients.
