Bonded ammo is supposedly for better barrier performance (like shooting though things thicker/meaner than clothes). A police oficer is (theoretically only) more likely to shoot through windows, doors, windshields, etc. than a person in a straight-up self-defense shoot. It was explained to me like that, and to have the bullet hold together/its mass while passing through those barriers.

What's the new gun?

The Kahr PM9. I actually purchased the ammo a few weeks ago when the Kahr was newer. It's not new anymore...ample shooting, a little thumb blood, and some 'smith work has already occurred. If my next range trip with it reveals it's still not up to snuff, I'll start looking for something else, starting with the M&P compacts

Let me know if you want to shoot a M&P 40c or fullsize i would be happy to meet you at Bills. I hve a membership so it is a $7 range fee for both of us. But i am more then happy to let some one shoot my broken in 40c and fullsize.

I use it in my 40 S&W chambered guns. Got a great deal at Dicks!

SXT Ranger = Black Talon without the MOLY Coating.

As for ballistics on the new SXT VS. the old Talon - not the same exact thing - much peppier

127 gr 9mm +P+ @ 1325 fps.. Now that is cookin for a 9mm. BTW I feel that Winchester makes GREAT factory loaded ammunition. Cor Bon is also very high quality and performance -but very expensive.

Anything that says Tactical = More expensive - just cuz they can.

Most tactical rifle ammunition uses a varmint style bullet for "explosive performance and reduced penetration."

In the same vein, somewhere in the depths of teh intarweb I've heard camo described as "hunter bait". Take a thermos bottle, paint some leaves on it, and it instantly becomes "hunting beverage carrier" and costs an extra $5.

Pretty much like painting it black and putting a Harley Davidson logo on it!

I'll bet that the Harley stores make 80% of their profit margin on clothes, keyrings and all that other Harley branded junk; half of it to non bikers!

I try to stay away from the foreign bike (harley) stuff, but I know what you mean. You put an EH or Super X logo on it and I am all over it. Gos well with #1033

I don't believe there are any such restrictions in this state aside from maybe military tracer rounds and the like.

AFAIK The only ammo not avalable to the GP is actual armor piercing rounds. Tracers are legal, as well as other military ammo, even some with a steel core. If you google "pulled bullets" you will find all sorts of good ammo.

Back on topic, here's the reponse by Federal's product support staff:

It depends on the load as some +P+ loads are restricted to
Law Enforcement. Generally it is because the 50 round boxes
Are sold to Law Enforcement only.

We are not trying to fool the public with the 20 round boxes
But it does keep the price lower for retailers.

In other cases the loads are suitable for LE use whereas
We might not suggest it for them.
