Re: Low stock at Frontiersman?

I should add that I dealt with Jesse H for the appraisals and his service was exceptional in every area, much better than most of the grumpy old timers you run into around town.

It’s pretty bad, I just had 20+ guns appraised for my uncles estate, my aunt (the executor) said family could buy them for whatever their buy price was, I bought as many as I could :)

Re: Walther PPS

I have had the PPS since it first came out, mine is one of the First Editions. It has been my go to carry gun for the past 8+ years. My only gripe is that the First Editions had a Hydro graphic "anthracite" finish on the frame and after any amount of carrying it looks pretty crappy, wouldn...

Re: Idiots with Guns

Pretty good stuff, maybe I missed it but was wrong with the guy at 10:10 shooting the big bore, seemed to me he knew what he was doing, also didn't see an issue with the girl shooting the 50cal. My wife has shot a 50 plenty of times and she's no bigger than that girl, those M107s are pretty soft sho...

Re: Chrony Master Beta problems

Get a Millenium II, WITH the IR skyscreens. You can shoot it at midnight and it will work flawlessly. Also, the electronics and all the expensive stuff are back on the bench with you, so the worst you can do is shoot out a skyscreen. The other thing about the Millenium is that the area of the trian...

Re: MN HORSE AND HUNT

Rifle range is a joke. What's going on here is, the H&H is financing their shotgun sporting facility on the backs of those paying exorbitant dues to use the the pistol and rifle ranges! Period, end of report. ? Pretty much the same thing that was happening at Forest Lake Sportsmen's Club, but t...

Re: Giant guns, extreme recoil management

A few years ago I wanted to shoot the TRG on FClass night out at the club, but even on practice nights we don't allow brakes unless it's a dead night and we can put the person far away. So I decided to take advantage of the modular stock, a quarter turn of two screws lets the front portion slide off...

Re: New rifle project

Very very nice, I have always loved the Anschutz stocks as well, if it shoots as good as it looks your competitors will be in trouble!

Re: Savage model 111 in a 338 lapua

I've got other rifles/chamberings that I'd much rather shoot at that distance that are a lot easier on the wallet and shoulder that perform very well. I would tend to agree, its more of a novelty around here, I still don't think I'll ever sell my TRG, its just too cool, the engineering is amazing a...

Re: Savage model 111 in a 338 lapua

No kidding; .50 BMG is like what, 200+ grains of powder per shot? That's only 30-35 rounds/pound. When powder is a significant portion of your reloading cost, well, it changes the math a bit, I suppose. Of course, on the other hand, .50 BMG powders are just about the only kind that show in stock at...

Re: Savage model 111 in a 338 lapua

I personally would get a single shot .50BMG over a .338 Lapua. At least you can get .50BMG at a semi decent price. And Walmart carries it... Where would you shoot it? Most of the local clubs don't allow them, also all the reloading stuff is drastically bigger and requires expensive tools, you can r...

Re: How long is your Carry permit renewal taking?

Maybe you guys are doing it wrong. Last time I renewed (Hennepin County) I got it in under 2 weeks and my wife's 1st time app came the next day. Not doing it wrong, me, my wife and three others took a class and delivered the proper forms to the Man downtown the day after the class. All 5 of us got ...
